Is it worth to upgrade my iCloud Storage?

I am planning on buying a new macbook pro and an iPad pro. I already own an iPhone 6s plus. I tend to de-clutter my devices every week by deleting photos or any contents that I no longer use. I use the free 5GB iCloud storage but have no idea on what is synced and what is not. Can you convince me why should I upgrade to the 50 GB plan. What are the perks? How will iCloud enhance the usage of all the apple devices I own?

You can use iCloud to keep your devices in sync - access your documents folder, the Desktop, your photos, your videos, your books, your music all in one place and have the content identical on all devices.

If you do not use the devices for the same things and do not need to keep them in sync, iCloud can still be useful to save storage on your devices. If you use the "optimize storage" option, photos or documents can be stored only in iCloud and downloaded when you need them.

What iCloud is not: It is not a backup of your Mac, but it is the primary storage of your documents and data, and they are mirrored on your devices. You will still need to make regular local backups of your documents and data.
