AirPods causing head pressure?

I got my AirPods a few weeks ago, right as they came out, and since the first time I put them on I've noticed that I start getting pressure headaches after a few minutes of use. I find this odd, as I've never had issues with the EarPods and I've used those ever since they came out. I also have another pair of Bluetooth headphones that I use with my Playstation, and I've never had an issue with those either. I've tried everything I can think of, including not putting them all the way in and just letting them kinda sit outside my ear canal.

The headaches aren't intense, but the slow building pressure is not exactly fun deal with. Has anyone else run into this issue? Better yet, has anyone else found a solution to this issue? I love these things, but they are getting hard to wear!

I have the same issue. Neve had this bad experience with Beats wireless. That's frustrating. I strongly believe it doesn't have nothing to do with the sound pressure. This is about radiations in my opinion. 😟

I looked and found no tests that send the AirPods are transmitting while closed in the case. The only time they might do so would be if you hold the button down on the case to place them in pairing mode to connect to a device that doesn't support the W1 chip. Even if they did transmit they would be limited to about 33 feet in range and even less in this case as the case would severely hamper the range. You said they were "far away" in another room.

So how many millions of people do you see with this issue? Because they can't make them fast enough to keep up with sales. I've seen less than 10 people complain about pressure. I don't get the symptoms you do nor does anyone else I know who has them. I would suggest you make an appointment with your doctor and take them with you.

Was there anything in there about the Beats Solo 3, Beats X or PowerBeats. Or any of the more recent BT headphones? All of them use a higher power BT. And the W1 chip is largely used just to make the connection, while my AirPods have good range they aren't anywhere near as powerful as my Airport Extreme (which also has a larger antenna).

They have done many double-blind tests on non-ionizing radio signals (which includes WiFi, BT) and none of them showed any relation between the waves and affect on the human body. Other than if you turn the volume up loud you can hurt your hearing.

You find people who write the posts like you read in Reddit all over the internet. I have a rare-blood disease (confirmed medically) and on the web site for one of the foundations related to it you get people all the time who have researched the internet and decided they had my disease. They read an article on the internet where someone else had the SAME (they never are) symptoms as them, etc. so they just know this is what is causing them to have their problems. One went so far as to get funds to fly to a hospital and join a medical study, but first they of course did medical tests to diagnose her. She didn't have it. Now she goes all over the internet telling people with my disease not to volunteer for medical studies "because they will take your diagnosis away from you." These are the people who post on Reddit.

Go to your doctor, your ear canal may have an issue or it may have a unique shape that is not compatible with the AirPods. The AirPods have a 98% approval rating and the vast majority of those that don't like them is due to having to use Siri. Stroke-like symptoms and pressure were not listed.

By the way, if you went to an Apple Store to buy your AirPods, or have ever been in one or many other stores you were exposed to much higher amounts of BT and WiFi, apple uses beacons and other stores have adapted them.

Amy, it has something that has been looked into several times with scientific studies. With lots of different people including some studies where they specifically included people who claimed they were sensitive to Bluetooth/WiFi. These same people could not accurately predict when they were being exposed to Bluetooth/WiFi. It doesn't have to be right in your ear and it isn't necessarily stronger that way, and it isn't the way these types of waves work anyway.

I'm not saying you aren't having pressure and getting headaches. You are being exposed to pressure....sound pressure from the speakers. My brother-in-law cannot use any inner ear monitors because of the narrow (and odd) shape of his ear canal. He even tried custom made molds. But it has nothing to do with how the devices are made and he can use on-the-ear and over-the-ear headphones. But this is a problem that he has, not the devices.

If you have symptoms see your doctor. Apple is not going to change the design of all of the AirPods because a few people have issues with them. And Bluetooth and WiFi signals as well as other non-ionic radiation is all around you everyday.

I will also tell you that wearing a knee brace with a magnet in it won't do anything for you as well as a lot of other non-scientific quackery.

No, you're going to the web to look up similar symptoms is not a discussion. Tell you doctor you do this. And from the very start I stated your headaches and medical issues are something you should take up with your doctor.

If you read the Terms of Use that you agreed to when you joined here you would not that this is an Apple, Inc. run user-to-user TECHNICAL support site. If you have a question about your AirPods not connecting, one side not working, etc. and a user here can help you solve that problem that is what belongs here. Nobody here can help you with your symptoms. That is between you and your doctor.
