"increase quote level" in mail? What does it mean? Only on my mac

I'm not interested in other devices, but on my Mac and MacBook Pro, using the Apple Mail App, using Sierra 10.12.2, what does "increase quote level" mean? I thank you.


And by the way, the behavior of the new TV App on my AppleTV's is super annoying. Any way to get rid of it? Or at least get it to stop interrupting? I thank you.

Hi,


When you receive an email, and reply to it, it will indent the "quote" (content of the email you're replying to) with a colored vertical line to the left of the quoted text, and turn that text the same color; the date and sender will be listed just above the quote. This will be repeated each time you receive/send the email, so you can easily see what each of you has written. See pic:
