pixel imessage thread

Hi there -

Has anyone had the following issue ?

I will email 2 friends (one has an iphone, other has a google pixel) in a group chat.

When either replies, they reply as a standalone text message ? ie: the reply is not part of the thread.

I've asked them if they reply to the thread or start a new text to reply. They each said, they reply to the thread.

This has happened multiple times now. Same scenario(one person has a google pixel, the other an iphone).

My only conclusion is that the Pixel is causing an issue. I don't even know how.

Alternatively, is there something wrong with my iphone / imessage ? a setting tweak perhaps ?

as an FYI, my imessage settings are only set up to send / receive from my phone number.

Thanks for asking the Apple Support Communities your question about Messages. What you are experiencing is normal. this help article explains the different type of messages, and why you are getting replies individually: Send a group message on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. It states:

Group SMS

These messages also appear in green text bubbles and go through your carrier. Group SMS messages don’t support multimedia attachments, like photos or videos. All responses in a Group SMS are sent as individual text messages and the recipients can’t see the other responses from the group.
