keychain

Keychain was recently turned off on my Mac (may have happened when I changed my password). When I try to turn it back on I am asked to sign in to iCloud and then I get message that says "iCloud keychain could not be turned on. Try setting up iCloud keychain again".

I am running OS X 10.9.5 and using Safari.

Any ideas? How do I set up keychain again?

  1. Choose Apple User uploaded file menu > System Preferences.
  2. Click iCloud, then select Keychain. You might be asked to enter your Apple ID password.
  3. Click Use Code, then choose Forgot Code when you're asked to enter your iCloud Security Code.
  4. Click Reset Keychain to replace your keychain in iCloud with the iCloud Keychain from your device.

  5. Click Reset iCloud Keychain to confirm.
  6. Follow the onscreen steps to create a new iCloud Security Code.

Are you getting far enough to have to put in the passcode? If so, are you putting in a 4-digit one? I saw another thread where the issue was the 4-digit code. Do you have any devices using iCloud Keychain and using the 6-digit code? You could try that, or if you see the option to select that you forgot your passcode, click on that to see if you can proceed.
