Is it possible to show the menu bar in a Quicktime screen recording? I created a video and opted to record the whole screen, but the outputted MOV file crops off the menu bar. Is there a way to prevent this from happening?
The problem may depend on/be connected with the operating system/QT X version in use. Like QTKirk, I ran a quick screen recording test on my system under Sierra OS using your "whole" screen option in the QT X v10.4 player. In my case, the entire screen was captured to include the menu bar and any menu selections made during recording. However, I also discovered the menu bar may or may not be displayed during playback dependent on the cursor location during playback. I.e., if the cursor hovers over the playback window, the menu bar is covered by the by the player window name as seen below:

On the other hand, if the cursor is not hovering over the player window, then the Menu Bar can be viewed normally as seen below:

My test file can be viewed/downloaded at http://downloads.walker4.me/Downloads_files/ScrRecTest.mov
Therefore, it should be possible to avoid the stated issue by simply upgrading your operating system as may be possible. However, be advised that such upgrades may also alter/limit QT X support for various AV compression formats due to changes in the QT X structures embedded in newer operating systems.
