1.5 gb of ram vs. 1gb

Hi, I currently have a macbook pro with 512 ram and would like to upgrade the ram memory. Should I leave the 512 and add 1gb and have 1.5gb or just 1gb. Which option will give me better performance?

Thanks

I would add a gig now, and add another one down the road if you can afford it.

I was also in the situation that you were. I had 512 mb of ram and I upgraded to 1.5 gig. I bought a 1 gig stick from Other World Computing, I also installed the ram myself to save some money. More ram is always better then less. I had the same question as you about matching sticks of ram, but my understanding, like i said, is that more ram is better.
