Space on the 2GB iPod Nano

For some reason my 2nd-Gen. 2GB iPod Nano has 350MB worth of OTHER. (theres either AUDIO, OTHER, or FREE SPACE) The only things I have on my iPod are songs, yet I have something eating up space which could be used for my songs. I have roughly 1GB used so far with songs, 350MB is filled with OTHER, and i have about 400MB left of FREE SPACE. I had no OTHER space taken up before i updated my iPod recently. I updated my iPod with 10 more songs, and all of a sudden there were 350mb worth of OTHER space. Can anyone post how to get rid of the OTHER space and turn it into FREE SPACE? I really don't want 300/500 songs when the iPod 2GB's capacity is 1.78GB.
