Why does Apple use poor quality of rubber/plastic used to wrap the charger cord of iPhone and Macbook Pro?

Long time Apple user and fan. But it is mind boggling why I continue to have the rubber cord split open where it connects to the charging base. Normal bending with average usage seems to make the inner wires grow and pop out apparantly. I have gone through several Apple iPhone cords and now my Macbook thin wired power cord.

I've never had these splitting cord issues with any other type of cord such as micro-USB or PC power cords. Anyone else have this issue?

Yes. Power cable on my MacBook Air started to split in two places after about 4 1/2 years. I'm extremely careful, never coiled it tighter than a 6 to 8 inch diameter loop, never pulled on the cable, never had a problem with any other brand.
