X symbol on battery icon

I've recently had my MacBook Pro reset as it was randomly shutting down, but now when I use it an x symbol is over the battery icon and the fans are running loudly. I know the battery itself is fine as I had it checked when I had it reset, so does anyone know why this might be occurring or how I can fix the problem?
