Frequent kernel panic

Hi, I'm having a big issue, my MacBook Pro 2016 13" was running fine for a couple of months until I installed a software from Avid called Pro Tools First, I removed it but my laptop was still having the kernel panics, I used the recovery and completely wiped out the whole system and installed a fresh copy of my OsSierra, everything was running fine during the day, I installed Google Chrome, Xcode Tools and AtomIO, After that it happened again.

- The check disk util says that the hard drive is fine.

- Already used the diagnostics tool (Restart + D button)

- Im running on a clean install

And its the same kernel panic report as the one I was having before the clean install (almost 100% sure).

You don't appear to have any known "Bad Actors" running.

You also do not appear to have any 256GB NVME devices, or any such devices at all except your boot SSD. You have the latest 13-in MacBook Pro running the latest software. They replaced your logic board (and all the memory soldered to it) you said. But wait -- In those models, that replaces the SSD drive as well.

This can only mean that Apple is already shipping NVME drives in the 2016 MacBook Pro models. And the 256GB drive it is referring to in the panic report appears to be your current Boot Drive (unless there is another drive you typically use, but did not connect while etrecheck was running).

Go back to the Apple Store or Service Provider and show them the kernel panic reports since the repair. Changing the logic board (including memory and soldered-in SSD) did not fix it, it is still complaining about a 256GB device, and the only 256GB device you have, whether it is ACHI or NVME is the Boot drive.

Whether this is a "sample defect" (a problem in your sample of these computers), a defective spare part, or a wide-ranging Hardware defect or Bug is not your problem. You deserve to have a working computer, and that is not what you currently have. So they need to fix it so you can get your work done.

Frankly, I can't be 100% sure.

However, when you try to interpret kernel panics, the first thing you look at is the backtrace - and the first thing on yours is the ioKit. And the only item that's unusual in your list of recent downloads is AtomIO.

I suggest going to the Atom support website, and see if there are other others who have the same problem. Mention the crash/panic report.

It started happening again, it doesn't make sense. Always the same kernel panic log, I've been using a HooToo as my usb bay and now it crashed 3 times when I had the HooToo with one of the Thunderbolt ports (I normally just use one), the strange thing is that I happens also without the HooToo so I really can't be sure.

Hi

If it's any consolation my Macbook Pro Retina early 2015 has recently developed regular panic crashes. I have no third-party software installed and nothing connected to any port yet I keep getting errors. I have done a fresh OS install and even installed and older version of OS, no luck.

Apple diagnosed it to have a failed graphics card, which means a complete logic board replacement (£450+). I'm gutted.

So this is the latest update, they replaced my logic board with the warranty and after a day working with it I had the same kernel panic... any ideas? I'm going again to the shop but has anyone an idea they replaced the whole logic board how is it posible, it could maybe be chrome or node but those are common programs how has no one had this problem?

If you take that report and launder out the hexadecimal addresses, it leaves a different impression in my mind. I do not see any involvement of ATOMIO, just a failing NVME Driver or NVME Drive:

*** Panic Report ***

So that says to me the NVME Driver got into situation where recovery was impossible, and could not proceed, so pulled the kernel panic alarm.

Yes now I'm sure that it's no atoms fault, but do you think it's a software issue? I had the whole logic board replaced. I worked with the mbp during December perfectly and it started happening in January after I used once Ávid Pro Tools with a port hub for my scarlet solo interface but I had a whole logic board replacement and haven't used the hub nor that software anymore.

The problem appears finally to be fixed, Apple changed my Logic Board and SSD drive, they think it was a cascade issue. When the SSD failed the Logic Board failed too. Now it's been almost a whole week and still no kernel panics. Thankfully my warranty had it all covered. Thank you really much for you help.
