You can't create a folder in Launchpad when the App is on the side!

Hi there,

I want you guys to quickly check out and correct me if I'm mistaken but I simply can't create a folder in Launchpad when the App I want to create a folder with is either on the very left- or right-hand side of the grid. Whenever you drag an icon to the App on the side it automatically moves away as if I just wanted to re-organize the App in Launchpad.

Thank you very much!

Best regards

Dennis

Greetings Traininator,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

I see that you can't create a folder in Launchpad when the app is on the very left or right side of the screen. It tries to reorganize the app and not create a folder.

First, you need to make sure that you are dragging the app directly over another app to create a folder. Please see:

macOS Sierra: Use Launchpad to view and open apps

Next, if this still isn't working as it should, please give your computer a restart and test again.

And finally, if you still have an issue after that, try to test in safe mode: macOS Sierra: Start up in safe mode .

Cheers.
