New Macbook Pro 15''(2016) - continuous fan running :(

While this new (highly expensive) notebook is nice, I am deeply disappointed by the fact that there is CONTINUOUSLY running fan on the rights of the notebook. Be it freshly open, started, cold, all the time. Yes, it is soft sound, not loud, but it is there all the time - without any break, simply automaticall. I was expecting it to be silent most of the time and fan coming when high load happens. But running a fan all the time is really not in pair with this price tag and story ... really disappointed ... When small Macbook can survive with no fan, why this one cannot run without fan most of the time too ? They simply don't care ?

Hi.

This is not normal, especially on the new MacBook Pro Touch which run cooler and quieter.

Open "Activity Monitor":

- In the processor tab at the top, do you see any process taking significant CPU? (Let's say over 50%)

- In the Energy tab, which are the first applications by average energy impact?

I have this same issue, even when I consider it completely normal and it is a design flaw.

The sound is not related with CPU or GPU load, you can hear closer to the computer (less than 50 cm) and in quit ambient. When I put the MacBook Pro over a flat table the sound is amplified I think. However, when you put the laptop in the air the sound is less noticeable. For that reason I guess is something related with: 1) the sound waves echoing in the surface below the laptop 2) the two holes for air entrance in the sides of the notebook conducts the vibration of the aire to the chasis exterior.

It is a little annoying to have this issue in a brand new computer, and is not related with something wrong with it, though.

Just to add to this- I have exactly the same issue as well. I have a brand new 2017 MBP 15-inch. I'm running macOS Sierra, Version 10.12.6. My processor is a 3.1 GHz Intel Core i7. My fan is ALWAYS on, irrespective of the internal temperature of the machine. For instance, when I wake up the computer after it has been sleeping the whole night, the fan turns on immediately. I would describe the fan speed as just barely detectable (but definitely it's whirling and making noise). The fan remains on at this low level even though the CPU load is only around 1%. I can just hear it when I hold my head still, like a super annoying mosquito. Come on Apple- I love my MacBook but this is something you need to fix.

Don't bother leaving your MBP to apple to fix, if you just bought it, hurry go to the store and swap a new one.

I had exactly the same problem as your MBP 15 2017. Then I went back to swap. Now my new machine runs very quiet, doesnt get hot easily, plus battery yes really close to what they claim 10hours.

I think it's all just defected problem.
