Some sites have seen their security upgraded by changes in their software

so it may well be the one you are trying to get into has been upgraded and

may need a newer 'supported' browser.

You wrote a second inquiry along the lines of this, here: safari

Have you contacted the Kaiser people via email to verify which browsers

they now determine are necessary for customers to access their site?

There are several site links to the Kaiser Permanente organization.

https://duckduckgo.com/?q=kaiser+permanente&t=ffsb&ia=web

Most (that I've noticed, perhaps all) require the use of https before the

www part of web address. Some newly unsupported browsers won't go

there. I'd suspect the aging Safari you have in Lion 10.7.5 is too old now.

So you may be able to contact them by email if you can gain access to

one of their sites; or find a reliable phone number, that really is them and

ask a technical person which recent browsers should enable site access.

You may have to see if the hardware build of your older MacBook Pro

could use upgraded newer operating system; per reply in other thread.

In any event...

Good luck & happy computing! 🙂

Hello again

Thanks for your efforts…it is a dilemma …can't contact kaiser web site folks

as site won't open via safari on MY(this) computer.as of 3 days ago.

I'll try from my iPad when I get home.

FYI can access using firefox so I know it's safari but only on this

computer as I used my friends iPad and got in fine with safari. Hence my feeling

that while fixing my xfinity somehow a setting was lost or a firewall

set up or?????

Anyway …appreciate your efforts.

Later,

ginnylb

The problem is not that anything on your Mac has changed. The problem is, just as K Shaffer says, that the Internet has changed.

SSL, the protocol that was being used to keep sites safe, was found in about mid-2015 to have security holes in it. It has taken many sites a long time, but those who really should have good security are finally updating their sites. The last Banks have been doing this in 2016, and finally health care sites are getting their sites up to best practices as well.

The version of Safari that shipped in 10.7.5 is too old for SECURE (httpS: ) connections to sites following best practices (to no longer allow connection via SSL-compatibility, but insisting on newer TLS).

A newer version of Safari requires a newer MacOS. Depending on exactly what model Mac you own, that may require a newer Mac.
