RSS Feed Issues with Media Temple
Hello Folks,
The wonderfully helpful and knowledgable James Tseng helped me figure out the first piece of this puzzle. I could use a bit more help to figure out this Rubik's Cube. Here are the pieces of this very frustrating puzzle.
I am trying to get my RSS Feed button to work on my iWeb designed site, www.kevinallison.com. My server is Media Temple, which unfortunately, forces you to follow this folder path when uploading your files domains>kevinallison.com>html. All files go into the html folder, including the index, but minus a sitefolder to contain the files.
This utterly screws up the RSS Feed. Normally, you would indicate http://www.kevinallison.com/ as the URL when publishing, then just upload the index and the site folder. Tthe RSS Feed kicks would kick in automatically. Not so here, thanks to the screwy Media Temple folder path. Inquiries at Media Temple have confirmed that that is the only path you are allowed to follow for some reason, with no other recourse.
Attempts to click the subscribe button get the 404 page. I've tried several different URLs when publishing to see if something sticks. Here's my latest attempt:
http//:ftp.s7477.gridserver.com/domains/kevinallison.com/html
and here's what I got back in the address bar of the 404 page:
http://ftp.s7477.gridserver.com/domains/kevinallison.com/html/kevinallison.com/N ews/rss.xml
I get variations on that on every attempt I've made.
Thanks to James, I know the RSS Feed can be accessed somehow because look:
http://www.kevinallison.com/News/rss.xml
And finally, to add insult to injury, I get yet another 404 when I try clicking on the Read More link in the feed of that page:
http://ftp.s7477.gridserver.com/domains/kevinallison.com/html/kevinallison.com/N ews/634629A8-9FF8-4429-8EE4-5E008841AB63.html
I am almost ready to admit defeat here. Is an RSS Feed on Media Temple impossible thanks to their arcane folder organization rules? Or is there an angle I'm missing?
Thanks in advance for all your help!
