Touch bar not lighting up... UGH!

Hi there, hoping someone can help. When I log into my MacBook Pro after it's been sleeping, my touch bar will not light up! I've tried opening the keyboard settings but nothing. I can restart my Mac and it will light up, but I shouldn't have to! One thing to note is that the keys still work... so if I hit the "esc" button on the far left, the action is performed. But I don't have the placement all memorized.... How do I get my touch bar to light up?? This is very frustrating to say the least! Thank you for your help.

MacBook Pro (15-inch, Late 2016), iOS 10.2

Same issue, Touch Bar disappeared but invisible keys are still working... I had the laptop just 2 days ago 😟

I've checked most of the forums and i found some solutions suggestions that:

- pressing to Fn keys will bring back the buttons. Not working.

- reset the SMC and NVRAM. Not working.

- refreshing Touch Bar. Not working.

and some ideas about the problem:

- Maybe it is a second screen (using Usb-c adaptor with) problem.

- It's a software problem which couldn't fixed about 3 years by Apple 🙂

So my Touch Bar's screen went off and no solution that i can do. Best option is to take the laptop to the Apple service. As far as i understood from the other people who done it before, Service's are changing the parts but can not fix it. And some users report that this problem exist till this crap Touch Bar added to MacBooks.

So this should be a very big issue to Apple but no any respond or a single word.

Still nothing found for this problem... 😟

I've had that exact same thing happen on a couple of occasions but I am currently having an issue where some of the icons that should be showing on the touch bar go black (search, volume, lock and siri) and when I press where I know they are they will light up. I've even had it were the entire touch bar goes black except for the escape key on the far left. This just started happening about a week ago, so about 4 weeks into it's usage. Are you having this issue too?

I have the exact same issue. I'm pretty sure that mine is only happening when I'm connected to an external monitor...
I had my first laptop replaced because of an issue with the USB-C ports. My original and replacement have the same issue. Please contact AppleCare if you haven't so that they can get more info from different machines. They collected many log files from both of my laptops, but I'm yet to hear anything back from them (I should probably just call back). I've also uploaded several videos of the issue to the cases that they have open for me.
I've found certain situations where I can consistently reproduce the issue - in iTunes when watching an iTunes U course is one of them - every time the touchbar sleeps, I wiggle the mouse and the touchbar flashes all weird and esc and control strip are not visible, and the scrubber area is all messed up too.
My specs, just for comparison:
15" touchbar, 2.7, 512GB, AMD 460, 10.12.2
