Family Sharing Security Code What is it?

My son uses an iCloud account which is set as Family sharing with my account as the organizer. When he tries to download a software from the AppStore he gets the prompt :

Payment Verification Required

Your Family Organizer, email@me.com must enter the security code for their payment method.

What is the security code? If I enter the password it comes back with verification failed. Please advice.

That is incorrect. It is NOT a bank issue. I am getting this dialog box when my wife tries to download FREE apps. We have never had an issue with this in the past and have been downloading apps just fine for a while. The bank card info is valid and works fine when I download apps. When the dialog box pops up it asks for the security code for the payment method, but the text field says "password". Neither my password nor the security code for the card work. This is a bug.

The family organizer must do the following on his device:

1. Go to: Settings > iTunes & App Store > Tap on Apple ID > View Apple ID > Payment Information > Security Code

2. Enter the CVV code of the credit card used for payment

My brother received the same notification while downloading an app. As I was the family organizer, I tried putting in my apple password and also the cvv code of my payment card. Turns out none of them were accepted. Then I completed the above steps on my own iPhone and afterwards he was able to download without any further notification.

This is not a bug but rather and extremely weak message that has nothing to do with what the device is asking for.

What you should be entering here is the "password" associated with the Apple ID that is currently logged into the device showing this message.

When that's done you will get a screen asking for your CC's security code. Enter that and you should be good to go.

Hope this helps.

Another poster indicated that they went to their computer and made a purchase using the family sharing person's ID (not the organizer's), and that when it asked for a Security code, they were able to put it in, so you might want to try that.

You would just sign in your son's ID into iTunes on your computer, then have them try to purchase the same item. See if you are able to then find a place to put the security code.

Cheers,

The Family sharing member who is see this message ... 'must enter the security code' on their device must enter their apple id password first. Once entered they will be taken to the payment information page. On that page you will see the family organizers credit card number and an area to enter the 3 digit security code. Enter the 3 digit code for the family organizers credit card and you are good to go....
