Any idea why my iPad mini turns wavy line/ pink while video taping?

iPad Mini 4 (This is our 4th replacement iPad mini.)

Model A1550 EMC 2825

iOS 10.2


This issue happens while video taping and taking photos. (This is a business iPad.) We have replaced the iPad 3 times. This is our 4th. We factory reset this using a different person's iTune account and have not added any additional software except Airwatch, which is required to be added. It has happened inside buildings and outside.

Thanks for posting in the Apple Support Community. I understand you're having trouble with seeing wavy lines on your screen whenever you try to use the camera on your iPad. I like having the camera functionality on my own iPad, and I'm happy to help.

One thing that could cause this is using your iPad with a case. If the case being used is for an older model iPad, there are slight design differences that could cause issues with the camera. This could also happen if the case is pressing against the camera. If you're using a case with the iPad, have you tried using it without the case or with a different case?

Further troubleshooting


Do you have issues with any other device cameras? Is this the only ipad that has the issue? Do other cellphone or iPad cameras work ok? If so, then that can rule out an environmental issue.


Does those pink lines appear everywhere? Meaning, if you take the ipad out of the building and out of its case do you still have the pink lines?


Do you have that Airwatch installed on anything else? Does it work ok on other devices? Especially other devices of the same model. If so, then that can rule out the app being the issue. If not, if other iPads or devices have the same pink lines then it may be the app.


Basically, rule out or in the case, environment and app then go from there.

The iPad is the apple device that I'm having issues with. My iPhone 6s is working fine and also has the Airwatch software installed. The pink lines have appeared when recording inside of the building and when I am out 'in the field' at work sites. I haven't taken the iPad out of it's Otterbox while the pink lines occur. The problem is intermittent.


The Apple store has no idea and is sending me another new iPad.
