Inside of Compressor go to Preferences.

Go to the Advanced section.

Click the "Reset Queue" button.

Select "Cancel Jobs" and click "Reset".

Click the "Reset Queue" button again.

Select "Repair Compressor" and click "Reset" again.

Reboot your Mac.

I solved this problem in my macbook 15 with touchbar and gpu amd 640
with Mac OS Sierra 12.12.3, putting off "share this pc" in compressor preferences
and using "process on: this computer"
In my Mac now gpu card works only when I start compressor.

i was noticing the same thing although with me the high perf GPU stays active indefinitely. the opening compressor thing does deactivate it for me as well. i think this must be something inside a recent update never noticed it until like the last month or so.

I have MacBook Pro With touch bar and touch ID, AMD radeon pro 450, same issue since installing compressor.

I am uninstalling compressor For now until this issue resolved if ever.

This is rather annoying as it could take up at least 1% of my battery power.

What version of compressor?

Have you upgraded to the most current version?

Compressorhelper still showing up as using significant energy when first booted to Mac.
