Touch ID will not unlock my iphone

The past few days the Touch ID on my iPhone has not worked, it goes straight to enter my passcode which I find irritating, being a busy student athlete. I have tried cleaning my whole phone as well as the button thoroughly and have gotten no change. I have also left my iPhone powered off to see if there would be a change after a while, and the result was the same.

Hi

After you have set up Touch ID, it can be normal to sometimes still need to enter your passcode or Apple ID including, for example:

If you have not unlocked your iPhone in more than 48 hours.
If you have just restarted your iPhone.
If you have just enrolled or deleted fingerprints.
