faded text on emails and texts make items hard to read

The text itself is corrupted so that parts of individual letters are missing.

This does not change if the text is moved to occupy another section of the screen.

I see that you are having an issue reading text on emails and text messages. The text is faded and parts of the individual letters are missing.

First, I suggest trying to force close the apps that are having this issue and restart your iPhone:
Force an app to close on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

If you still have an issue after that, perform a backup of your iPhone and then update the iOS software:
How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch
Update the iOS software on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Once you've done both, let me know if you still have this issue.

Thanks for trying those steps.

What we would like you to try now is a restore to factory settings. Once you've restored your iPhone to factory settings, set up the iPhone as new, and then test to see if you get the same issue:
Restore your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch to factory settings

Once you've tested, use this article to restore your iPhone from a backup:
Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from a backup

Let us know what happens.

I have tried restoring to factory settings and then setting up as new phone. Unfortunately this does not cure the problem.

However, I have found that if the screen is pressed a little harder than usual, the text near to where you are pressing then displays correctly.
