Why does com.apple.qtkittrustedmoviesservice use >100 CPU?
I'm using It drained my batter in under an hour and sounded like a spaceship. On the power icon it says "Photos Agent" and "Messages" are using a significant amount of energy even though Photos is closed.
I'm concerned because my Microsoft Word crashed a few weeks ago on an important document and I had to go in and find the .asd file because auto recover for some reason didn't recover it. In doing so I found a file that was near the same folder as the auto recover file and that had bizarre text, pasted below the open file list. It says my Writing Assignment 3 (the file it didn't recover) was in the trash even though it wasn't, and some of the files it listed are years old. Also, there is no file called HI_mylastname- writing assignment 1, and this same HI appears in the activity monitor's open files tab, so I'm wondering if its all related.
I'm not sure if this is related, but few months ago my iMessage contacts were showing numbers for contacts, including my own, that weren't saved or listed in contacts and so could not be removed, and I was seeing emails from an old email account with a "resent from" field listing my email address, with "to" and "from" fields containing different email addresses. I called Apple and they said someone was using an email reader so I changed my passwords, but it seems like they could have uploaded anything to my computer via the cloud drives/ email with my password. Sierra came out the iMessage problem disappeared, and I also reinstalled OSX to try to fix it. The Microsoft security tab showed the following:
Activity monitor shows the parent process is launchd (1), and com.apple.qtkittrustedmoviesservice has open the following files:
