Adobe Flash won't update

Hi,

Since updating to OS 10.12, I receive notices that Adobe Flash needs to be updated.

When I download the update, nothing happens. I'm not too concerned about flash but wonder what my Mac might have that is better? Is that why flash doesn't update after downloading?

Thanks,

Garrett

I see that this is a bit old. Everyone responding seems very concern about this being a scam. I have the exact same problem. It's not a scam. It doesn't come from a website. It comes from the Adobe update system. Whenever Adobe has an update, I get a window that asks whether I want to download (the dmg) or to try later. Pressing the download button never does anything. I can go to Adobe and manually update. Then eventually this happens again. It's just that this is really annoying.

What is telling you that Flash needs to be updated? If you're seeing something on a website telling you this, chances are good that it's a scam and that if you install the thing it links to that you'll be infected with malware and junk software.

Also, note that Flash has been the cause of serious malware infections on the Mac in the past, and has suffered from security vulnerabilities almost every month - sometimes multiple times per month - for years. It really should not be used any longer. Any site still using Flash should be considered to be horribly outdated and insecure, and should be avoided at all costs.

The best thing you can do is uninstall Flash and never look back.
