Display fading in and out

The color on my display is fading in and out, from it's normal brightness to a faded color that makes it look like it's blurred, or almost pastel. Is this a known issue? My computer isn't old, but it's a refurb.

iMac, OS X El Capitan (10.11.6)

I understand that the display on your iMac is fading and looks blurred. I know it's important to have your display looking great, so I'm happy to help.

I would recommend resetting your SMC and NVRAM, which can often help with display issues:

Additionally, test to see if this issue continues in safe mode, and follow the steps in the article if the issue doesn't happen there:

Lastly, see if your iMac is eligible for the video card replacement program:
