Selecting 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz Network on Apple TV

When setting up Network on my Apple TV: I can choose between 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. What advantage do I gain either way?

Hi. There's normally less interference on 5 GHz, because there are fewer users and no other devices (Bluetooth, cordless phones, baby monitors, etc.). 2.4 GHz usually has longer range, but more interference. I'd prefer 5, provided the signal strength is good.

Generally speaking more devices work in the 2.4GHz bandwidth and consequently operating in this range is more prone to interference. On the other hand 5GHz is much more easily blocked by thin walls and floors and generally operates over a much shorter distance. Choose the one which suits best, if you don't suffer interference I'd be inclined to go for 2.4.

That's not correct, both frequencies offer the same channel width and the channel width doesn't vary from one device to another. As already pointed out the differences are range and interference, the 2.4 Ghz frequency wins on range, the 5 GHz frequency wins on interference, although it might be worth adding this isn't just because the 5 Ghz frequency is less congested, it also has many more non-overlapping channels (23) than the 2.4 Ghz frequency has (3)
