Where are you seeing this? I only see this service running in the task manager under its correct name

I didn't find anything even close to this in Norton. I guess it's possible that the name is scrambled by your system or by your Symantec firewall software, but that seems odd to me.

I would probably report this to the folks at Norton/Symantec and see what they say.

If you've done a scan of your system and iTunes and its related components are working, then I would suspect there's nothing to worry about. I assume your firewall is not blocking this? And having asked that, I'm a little puzzled as to why this is being handled or seen by your firewall anyway. It's a service that runs to detect your devices when plugged into your computer.

The old IT guy in me is always leary of stuff like this 😁

Well it looks like this - whole picture... so it looks like the computer is compromised (or apple installers, or during installation somkething inject something)... its not the first time I can see things like that - even on Filesystem (weird filenames, etc...) many times reinstalled... same as router many times flashed, HP switches wasnt (but I am not sure if they can be compromised - they have two images for backups so maybe, they could be also)... I am really surprised as I cant figure out from where it was born... :-/

And yes I had suspiction on ESET and I will send all data I have, dont worry... but still its weird... I set up interactive mode on the firewall, so there is nothing I dont know about now...

I am blocking that... but after two last blocks (as I choose to ask everytime) I got the same but without chinese letters... Its kinda weird, istn it?

And yes I am also IT guy... and yes I remember even networks on koax :-) (I was very young but still remember)...

I put everything in logs, so I should see it as a text, because I was not able to search for those letters till now...

Any idea would be nice and helpfull! :-)

Many thanks.

The sync via wifi makes sense where inbound and outbound ports are concerned, but the service will run full time and go 'active' when a device is detected/connected. And no, I would not allow it given the strange nature of the name. I am only guessing, but is the 'good' one seen during a sync via USB?

As far as your system being compromised, a serious virus scan should find what might be causing it but where it came from isn't going to be easy to determine.

If you've seen this kind of weird naming in the past, maybe it's time for a rebuild.
