Mail getting sent out using CC and BCC, how can I disable CC/BCC

A friend is using an ipad and the ipad mail was setup using gmail and hotmail. Friend uses hotmail. Whenever you select to write a new mail, it automatically wants to CC and BCC it. How can I stop the mail from using CC and BCC?

Thanks for your assistance

Using the ipad IOS Mail app. When you tap the mail icon on the ipad, and want to start a message, or reply to a message, it automatically puts the return address in the Cc/Bcc:

The Settings> Mail > Always Bcc myself is off. Mail still wants to Cc/Bcc.

ipad is an ipad air and made in 2014.

The ipad did have a Gmail account on it first, but friend wants to use Hotmail. Since Gmail was on ipad first, could that be causing the problem? I do not see a Gmail app on the ipad

Aha. This may be a clue. The iOS Mail app seems to treat the outgoing SMTP mail servers as a pool, not related to any particular account. If you go to Settings > Mail > Accounts, pick an account and tap on SMTP, you'll see the primary server and the other, backup, servers. I wonder if this happens when you're in one account, but using the other server to send the mail. Is it sending a copy to the sending account for its information?

I am not quite sure what you are saying....

But here is some info..........

I am listing what is showing under mail accounts...

Gmail Account .....

Primary Server - Gmail SMTP Server On

Other SMTP Servers.... smtp-mail.outlook.com Off

Add Server.....

Hotmail Account....

Outgoing Mail Server - SMTP smtp-mail.outlook.com On

Other SMTP Servers.... none

Hope some of this info helps

No. That blows my theory, since each account seems to be linked to its own SMTP server. I really have no idea why sending a bcc to yourself is enabled when you disable it. If this problem really hurts you, maybe it's time to look at a 3rd party mail app. Back when iOS 9 came out, Mail stopped working as I needed, so I switched to AltaMail (not free for multiple accounts). It is highly configurable, and not subject to whimsical updates from Apple. See http://mobile.eurosmartz.com/products/altamail.html for their blurb. I know there are other choices as well.
