How can I restore Notes from time machine
I deleted a Notes item but then discovered I needed it - can I recover from Time Machine backups, please?

When? if it is "gone" 5 days ago, for example, go into "Enter TimeMachine", then select the Applications folder in the Finder Window, then go back at least 5 days, then select Notes in the Applications folder and click "Restore".
I assume that your profile is not correct, but that you are on Sierra:
if on Sierra aside from the above you could look into the V4 mail folder in Yourname->Library->Mail->Mail->V4 folder.
If indeed on SnowLeopard: the same but the V2 folder.
If the earler post does not help you.
Thanks for your suggestions but I think I deleted them too long ago to recover. I can fine the .storedata files but cannot open them in any application and no file-converter available either...ah well, lesson learned I guess.
Next time:
If you want to keep a note: click the header of the note, so that it is displayed completely, in Notes Menu select the File menu, then export as PDF.
Yes but will this replace newer notes in the application? The ones I want could be Jan 2016 (not 2017), please?
It will replace Notes on the day you choose, not the newer ones probably, perhaps all the notes try it.
Many thanks - will try these tomorrow. Have to shut down now.
Nice, thank you.
My pleasure,
Lex
