I don't have a Microsoft folder in Application Support

I am trying to find an autorecover file from Excel. I am trying to folow the path UserName:Library:Application Support:Microsoft:Office, but in the Applications support folder, I don't have a Microsoft folder... What the **** do I do?

Are you looking inside your own home folder? That folder is hidden by default & people can daily confuse that place with other folders on the system.


In Finder open the 'Go' menu (hold the alt key down, a.k.a. option key) > Select 'Library' from the list.

Navigate into the folders…

Application Support, Microsoft, Office

Can you see the relevant files?



Also what version of Office are you using? Does the help for the autosave file apply to your version?

What about the article / help page - where are you reading this advice?

Office has changed the location that autosave data is kept - once more what version are you using?
