How to get iBooks 3.1 for iPad (iOS 5.1)

Hi

I just got an old iPad (1.st generation), thinking I could use it to read PDFs in the sofa.

But: I can't find the iBooks app for iOS 5.1 (max for this iPad); I think it is iBooks version 3.1 or 3.1.1

Have searched on the net, but all hits lead back to App Store, which doesn't have this version (or any version, as far as I can see).

Anyone have or know where to find iBooks for iOS 5.1 ?

Thanx

iPad, iOS 5.1.1, null

The only place to get the iBooks app is the iTunes App Store. Have you downloaded the app on your computer's iTunes so that it's in your account's purchase history ? If you have, what happens when you try to download it via the Purchased tab in the App Store app on your iPad : Install an app on an earlier version of iOS or OS X - Apple Support ? If that doesn't work you can't get the app

It used to work, but now that iOS 10 allows built-in apps to be 'deleted' (and therefore redownloaded) it's possible that Apple have changed how the app is in the store and that it can't be added as a 'purchase' to new accounts.

You could try a PDF app from there store e.g. this (from https://sites.google.com/site/appleclubfhs/support/advice-and-articles/finding-a pps-for-older-devices#5.1.1) will search for PDF apps in Norway store whose current version requires are iOS 5.1.1 or lower : https://www.google.co.uk/search?client=safari&rls=en&q=site:itunes.apple.com/us/ +%22requires+ios+2.0%7C2.1%7C2.2%7C3.0%7C3.1%7C3.2%7C4.0%7C4.1%7C4.2%7C4.3%7C5.0 %7C5.1%22&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&gfe_rd=cr&ei=tY57WNSuG9HW8geMq5rADA#q=site:itunes.ap ple.com%2Fno%2F+%22requires+ios+2.0%7C2.1%7C2.2%7C3.0%7C3.1%7C3.2%7C4.0%7C4.1%7C 4.2%7C4.3%7C5.0%7C5.1%22+PDF

Thanx a lot, that was a useful link! I found several useful programs that could successfully be downloaded.

I have given up on the iBooks, but found something maybe better: EasyPDF, which can behave like a server on my local wi-fi to make it easy to download PDFs - no iTunes required. It works OK, but with primitive navigation etc.

Coming from using Mac for the last 30 years, I must say iPad seems very constricted and claustrophobic, clumsy ways to install programs or share files. And I'm not impressed with the search function in App Store

Oh well, I still have my Mac(s). This old iPad works (slowly) for reading PDFs in the sofa, and watching videos
