I have been playing GNU Backgammon on my PC for quite awhile. It is leaps and bounds above the capability of anything in the App Store. I tried to install it on my new Mac and it wouldn't work.
GNU is open source free software.
How can I install it?

Not so simple...
Instructions for http://www.gnubg.org/ said to install XQuartz first... did that... downloaded installer and got the following...
Obviously this is risky, and I certainly do not recommend it ...
... but if you persist in wanting to use this specific game, here is how.
Google search: "gnu on mac os x".
