How do I change orientation of my iPad
MY iPad does not change its orientation so tha I can type on the keyboard.

Without knowing variables, such as if you'd paired the iPad Pro with
bluetooth keyboard, or not; this could cause similar issue. The most
drastic way to remove such an issue, would be to reset/restore iPad.
{Better if a lesser step - in settings - can restore basic functions.}

There are areas of the touch surface the cursor location may be placed
which would increase the odds of the keyboard working; and icons or
other visible items that appear on the lower edge of display. Depending
on where you tap or touch, the luck of it may help activate keyboard.

And several sites online dance around the issue with various ideas, of
which one is, if you happen to have/had a Bluetooth keyboard in use
it may not have disconnected and may be interfering with built-in one.

There are other perhaps 'helpful' sites with info. Also there may be
a single page in Apple Support where these are officially covered.
While I've an iPad Mini (early, likely 2013) I found some items on screen
don't work so well; and I've shelved this unit for now. It was gifted me.
Not sure what the attraction is to be rubbing all over the place, either.
{I did find an inexpensive Stylus (promotional, free) with inkpen attached
that may help me to get the touch-screen to work for me. A cheap
Android 7-inch tablet I was given last year had same problem. I'm set
to give that away to another touch-fool, and will include a stylus with it.}
Be sure the screen is carefully cleaned on occasion with appropriate cloth
& not dampened; it may help to experiment with products for effectiveness.
From my limited experience, between the android tablet and iPad, I'm not
a big touch screen fan. I've not the time for mucking about w/o results.

On the right hand side of your iPad, just above the volume buttons is a switch. Toggle it to the Up position, and then the orientation should be able to be changed.
Then if you go into Settings/Use Side Switch to: you can choose whether the side switch locks rotation or mutes the sound.
I Do not have that button. I have a brand new iPad Pro.
