iOS and HP printer over network?

My Hewlett-Packard M125 printer is not communicating with my iPhone 5 and iPad 2. I want to use them with the network on my router, but the printer does not appear in the Setting for Wifi on either device. HP's instruction says the printer should appear in that Setting, but it does not.

What is odd is that the MacBook communicates quite happily with the HP printer over the network.

I have been asking for help from HP. The technician there is trying, but so far without success. I have to wonder if the problem is not at HP's end but rather something to do with the difference between Mac OS and iOS.

Does anyone here have any experience with connecting by wifi an HP printer with an iOS device? TIA

Unless there is an HP specific app for printing, iOS uses AirPrint - About AirPrint - Apple Support

As long as the printer supports AirPrint and is on the same wifi network as the iPad, you just print from within apps.

But, I'm not seeing "m125" listed in the HP AirPrint printers? If that printer does not support AirPrint then you can check the App Store for one of the apps that offers generic wifi printing and see if one of those will work.
