Hi,
In Whatsapp (but also other messaging apps) certain emoji's are shown as squares.
I thought that doing a clean install (no restore) would fix this, but it did not. However, when I type them myself i can see them no problem.
Anyone that has the same problem and perhaps a fix? My phone is the iPhone SE 64GB.
Are you referring to emoji in the keyboard on your phone or emoji In messages you are receiving? If it's emoji in received messages, it's possible the sender is using an app or device with non-standard emoji characters.
I can type that flower on my phone and when i send it I can still see it. But like in my screenshot, when it is a status (or notification) i can't.
I just now tested it again. my old iPhone 5 running on 10.2 is able to see the correct emoji in the person's Whatsapp status, but my new SE on the same iOS version can not. So i am pretty sure it is a phone problem.
She has a Xiaomi redmi note 2, chinese phone.
But my old iPhone 5 also shows the emoji correctly, running on the same version of iOS and Whatsapp. Please try to open the link in a new tab. I indeed see that it does not open when simply clicked on.

Yeah, I was talking about emojis in received messages. I understand that a person could have emojis that are not supported by iPhone, but 3 persons?

I tested it on my girlfriends' phone, and there it showed one of the emojis was a simple rose flower.

And you can type that exact same flower on your own phone?
What kind of phone does your girlfriend have? For some reason, your linked image will not display.
