Or see the following from Sign in with a different Apple ID on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

iCloud

  1. Tap Settings > iCloud on your iOS device. If you see the option to sign in, you can change your Apple ID now.
  2. Scroll down and tap Sign Out.
    User uploaded file
  3. Tap Sign Out again to confirm. After you sign out of iCloud, you might not be able to access some of your data that's stored in iCloud until you sign in again. If you're part of a family, you need to sign back in to use Family Sharing.
  4. Choose Keep on My iPhone or Delete from My iPhone when you're asked what you want to do with your iCloud data.
  5. Enter your password to sign out.
  6. Go to Settings > iCloud and enter your Apple ID and password.
  7. Tap Sign In.

If you updated your Apple ID email address and your device repeatedly asks for the password to your previous Apple ID, you can temporarily change your Apple ID to sign in.

Unfortunately I cannot find any way to sign out - and then to sign in with a different AppleID.

The only option I am being given is to put in the password for my wife's AppleID.

To elaborate a bit, what I did was ....

Click on Settings

Scroll down to and click on iCloud

This gives me a column on the left headed Settings

(with all the options, but with iCloud highlighted in blue)

plus a broader column on the right headed iCloud

The first item in this right column is a grey disc with my wife's initials in it

then to the right of that her name, with her apple account (name@icloud.com) under it.

To the right is a > symbol

Clicking on that, bring up a sign in pane, with my wife's Apple ID *already* in it, and asking for me to put in the password for it.

I can see no opportunity to put in a different AppleID !

Clearly I must be missing something!

Thanks for your help
