HI, have seen many similar questions but no solution yet from any source. The resident Mail on my IPad is using 5.4GB of space but there are no emails. Also just noticed my Yahoo Mail is now also showing 1.2GB of storage with only 8 emails in it. Can no longer update Ipad. Would really appreciate any help. Tks Jeannie

HI Brian, Tks for your help - successfully regained 1.2GB after deleting & reloading Yahoo but as Mail is a resident app on IPad I don't know anyway to delete it. It has no emails in it and yet it shows as having 5.4GB of data in storage. Would appreciate any further suggestion. Tks Jeannie

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities! It appears that your Mail application and Yahoo Mail app are using quite a bit of the storage space, but you have no emails to show for it. I'll be happy to help.
Force an app to close on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch -- First, force close the Mail app and Yahoo Mail if they're open, then Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch -- Check the mail applications once your device has returned to the home screen. Let me know if your emails have returned. If not, were they set up as POP3 or IMAP accounts?

Try a reboot press & hold power button& menu button hold both down until
You see apple logo this can take 30 seconds .
Then go to settings Email Accounts delete all accounts
Then add them back again .

Hi. In iOS 10, you should be able to delete the Mail app by holding the icon (on the Home screen) until it shakes, then tapping the X. You can reinstall it by searching the app store for Apple Mail. But, if you actually had a lot of mail, which you deleted, you may just need to go to the Trash mailbox in Mail and Delete All.
