Cracked MacBook touch pad.
2010 MacBook Pro. Was working great. Not used in 6 months. When I took it out and charged it, it was working, but the touch pad was raised up and cracked.
what happened? Can it be fixed? Is this damage covered?

Open the MBP bottom case cover and the odds are that the battery has expanded and damaged the trackpad. The battery must removed immediately if that is the case. Take the MBP to a genius bar and see if it can be repaired.

I'm with Oglethorpe on this one, the battery has swollen, remove it before more damage is done and take the Mac to an Apple Store.
