Screenshot not working: iPhone 6s

I currently have iOS 10.2 on my 6s and the screenshot is not working. I read through similar posts and all people are saying is perform a hard reset, which hasn't helped. I tried holding both buttons consecutively for several different periods of time, still nothing. I also saw someone post the "workaround" through enabling assistive touch. That hasn't proved helpful. Is there a fix to this issue? Or should I just go on living life without this precious feature?? I guess I could just get a second phone and take a pic of the screen every time i need to save important screen data.

Did your phone receive damage? Or did it come this way? You should just be able to press the Home Button and the Power Button at the exact same time and the screen should flash for a moment -- the screenshot should now be in your photo library.

If this isn't working, something could possibly be wrong with your phone.

I just recently got this phone. No damage since I've had it. The screenshot has not worked since I've had it. I also tried using assistive touch to perform the screen shot. Doesn't work. Watched a video on how to do it to make sure I wasn't making a mistake. I'm wondering if it's a bug that could be fixed with an update.
