Is there a way to get a email received receipt with Apple Mail?

Apple have chosen not to implement Mail Receipts - in either direction, or delivery messages. The believed reason for this is that even if at your end you request such a receipt you have no control over whether the person at the other end will allow sending to you such a receipt or is capable of doing so.


However various partial or full solutions have been developed to give some or most of the desired features. The article mentioned by CT is the most basic solution, it boils down to adding the special invisible message headers to emails you send saying 'please send me a message received receipt'.
