Hello Winston. I agree. There are a couple of threads in the Sierra forum, but not much clarity, see Could not connect to apple tv from MacOS Sierra and airplay on Mac. One user deleted the AirPlay entries in Keychain with no effect. I wonder if this is a new instance of conflict due to old screen sharing/casting programs. Perhaps we should be looking for their Keychain entries, or better just make sure they are fully uninstalled.

If this leads where you seem to think it might, perhaps another approach other than nuking the Keychain could be looked at, such an action causes considerable disruption to anyone that relies on the keychain to any extent, which many do. I wonder if a search and removal of the term AirPlay or something similar in the Keychain might be a starting point. I don't and haven't had the problem so am unable to do any testing.

I finally got this to work after much frustration. Sign out of iCloud completely in your Settings. Once you are signed out, go to air play again and try to stream, in my case was music. You should see a pop up that made me sign into my iTunes account (not full iCloud). So I signed into iTunes from that airplay pop up. The dreaded password box popped up. I entered that dumb four digit code from the tv and it worked. After I picked myself up off the floor of shock I went back and signed back into iCloud in settings and it all works. Good luck!
