Pages won't let me edit text

Pages won't let me edit text

I have been editing a document in Pages and have suddenly come across a page that will not let me edit it. Is there something I am missing here that is preventing me from editing text?

Sorry! This is my first time using the help forum. I am using Pages 5.6.2.

The origin was copied from a word document. I cannot select any text on that page. I can move the entire page around, move the picture around, I just cannot click anywhere within the frame containing the text. When I am able to write text, it appears up along the blue line that runs underneath the bottom of the school crest, the one that has a small rectangle at the right edge of the page.

Hopefully the below image is more helpful, I had to scale it down to get it to fit the size constraints.

It was enough to tell us what version of Pages.

My guess is there are frames within frames but can't check that without access to the document.

Or an oversize object covering everything else.

I would have also suggested maybe some of the objects are pdfs or bitmaps, but the invisibles are showing so rules that out.

Another possibility is grouped objects with some not editable within the group. Try ungrouping everything.

Thank you for the screen snap, but you have cut off the Toolbar and not told us what version of Pages.

Also the origin of the document. Was it an imported Word .doc/x file? Or material imported from the web?

Nor which part of the screen you can't select the text.

The blue outlines indicate you have overlapping objects with some covering over the text of others.

Is that the parts you can't edit? If so then you will have to move/crop the objects so you can select the parts you want to get at. It is also possible if you copied these from web objects that they are nested frames which you will have to unpick by cutting or copying content out of the frame and pasting back into Pages and then deleting the frame.
