My apple headphones don't work with my windows computer/laptop

I have recently received some apple headphones with my iPhone 6s. They work with my phone, kindle, iPod and my family computer but they don't work well with my laptop (windows operating system). There is no issue with the headphone jack of the laptop as I have tried various other headphones with my laptop and they work perfectly, it is just my apple headphones which won't work. When I plug my apple headphones I can hear audio through them but when listening to songs the audio is distorted, I can the background music and some instrumental parts but I can't hear the main vocals.

Does anyone any tips and advice for how to sort this?
