Transfer data from old ssd to new macbook

I had water damage to my macbook air (13" and bought new in 2015), I took it to the Apple Shop in London and they said repairs would almost be as much as a new macbook, so I decided to get a new one. However they took out the SSD (at least thats what I think it's called) which they said contained all my files from my old macbook. But I'm not sure how to transfer that information to my new macbook? What kind of transfer device do I need to buy?

Thank you

MacBook Air

Hello h-parker_ :

I think the thing you need is a adapter and there have the thing it's call SATA III to USB Adapter Cable

Here is the link so you can know what is it : SATA to USB 3.0 Converter for SSD/HDD

I suggest you go to real store to buy one of this so you ask staff to make sure adapter would work.

After you have it just plug your SSD to your MacBook Air and it's should appear on the desktop like normal USB icon.

Hope this can answer your question.

I would like to answer about your other related questions.

All the best & farewell 🙂
