I am trying to resolve a similar problem on my wife's phone. She entered an email address upon setup with a typo on her IPhone 6S. She didn't realize it for a few months and the I-Cloud account is still not verified. It says "Verifying" at the top when you click on >settings >I-Cloud, and then finally just says "Account not verified." The only active links are "check email" or "sign out." Of course, check email won't work due to typo, so we are clicking "sign out." It then comes up with "delete from iPhone" which we would like to do. Unfortunately, it requires a password which she can't recall. Resetting password can only be done through security questions, which she also doesn't seem to recall, but we keep trying. The account gets locked and we have to wait 8 hours to try again. Looking for a way to delete and start over. Read a post that you can change your Apple ID temporarily to the "bad addresss" and then sign in and deltee from IPhone and then change back. This doesn't work because it says that bad address is not available, which is understandable. Looking for next steps while we continue to try security question answers.
