stuck on user login progress bar

My macbook seems to be stuck on the loading bar screen after inputting my password with the loading bar full. I tried booting it up in safe mode and it's stuck on the same screen. when i tried in recovery mode it got stuck loading in the apple startup loading screen. Anything i can do?
