iPod loses it configuration settings

Hello !

My 3g iPod loses it's configuration setting if the battery get too low when it's turned on again, is there some way to preserve the settings ?

If my iPod gets too low on battery after I charge I have to turn the clicker off, rest the contrast and so on, shouldn't these setting be in none volatile area of memory ?
