EtreCheck for review: Used 08 iMac 10.10.5: Security & Upgrade?

Thank you in advance for your help and expertise! After acquiring a used iMac from a local university I have a few questions. The EtreCheck is below for your review.

  1. What else would you recommend to ensure security?
  2. My debit card information was recently purchased and fraudulant purchases were attempted, with the card still in my possession. Do you see any possible links here, based on this report? (The Citrix plug in is for my remote work access which is through a prestigious financial institution.) I did not but I wanted the experts opinion.
  3. Security: do I need to upgrade to Sierra to ensure the best security possible? Or, until further warning from Apple, continue to use Y?
  4. Upgrade: am I able to go straight to Sierra via the App store or do I have to go with EL C. and build up?

There are so many ways to steal your debit/credit card information. Anytime you use your card. There have been millions of credit/debit card information stolen from major consumer companies (Target comes to mind, but they are not the only ones).

Personally, I prefer a credit card, because it is not tied directly to my bank account and there are legal protections on how much you can loose if your card is lost or stolen (this includes stealing the card number). And if there is a fraudulent charge, my money is still in the bank, where as debit card will remove the money from my bank, and then I would need to convince the bank to give it back. Just a personal preference on my part.

You could use more RAM, but if you are happy with the current performance for Yosemite, and want to save your money for a new Mac, then do not worry about it. If you are going to stay with this Mac, maybe upgrading to El Capitan to get a few more more years of security updates AND you do not like your performance, then consider adding some RAM (MacSales.com or Crucial.com are well respected Mac RAM vendors).

If you stay with this Mac after you cannot longer upgrade, then eventually consider switching to a browser that is being updated with current security features, such as Firefox or Chrome as long as they continue to support your Mac and the operating system it is running. Just watch how much an alternate browser consumes resources, as they are not always conservative on things like using RAM and CPU. Something to keep in mind when Apple stops updating Safari on your system.
