Quicktime player screen recording lag

Hi there

I record my screen using the quicktime screen recorder when i am playing the video game The Sims 4. However, when the game freezes or anything, the audio stays recording however the video will stop and start. There for when I am editing the video will be out of time with the audio. It is extremely frustrating, is there a way I can get it to either keep recording video when it freezes or stop audio and have it start again when it the computer unfreezes?
