Problems between Logic 9 and Logic X

Hello. I have had to buy a new Macbook Pro due to the old one dying on me and am trying to finish a project which was made on Logic 9 and must be kept on it, while learning Logic X, which I've managed to avoid till now.

I have 2 questions:

Firstly, Logic 9 will not open old songs once opened on my new MacBook...it crashes every time. I understand this is because the MacBook is running El Capitane instead of Mavericks, but I need to keep working on it, however imperfectly. If I click on a Logic song itself it opens in Logic X instead....how can I change this? Is there something in preferences that allows me to open a song in 9 instead of x?

Secondly, if I do open an old Logic 9 song in X, there is no record button. I can record by pressing R but this is a nuisance. If I open a new song in X the record button is there. My audio interface works fine. Just no record button. Does anyone know why this is?

Turn off iCloud drive?

Control Click on the Logic Project file and choose Open with... Select LP9. If you need to you can make this the default.

Stretch the Track Header to the right?

Control Click on the Track Header, choose Configure Track Header and make sure that the Record button is checked?
