how to turn off find my iPhone on computer

How can I turn off find my iPhone on my computer? I need to restore my phone as it is stuck with a turning wheel for several hours and won't turn off.

iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.5)

Just open www.icloud.com, log into Your account and go to "Find my iPhone". On the top You'll find a list of all devices in Your iCloud, just click on the one You want to remove and chose remove from account.

Apparenty I have to stop the FIND MY iPHONE in order to restore. Once I finish the restore, will I be able to reactivate this feature?

This is very true, Apple needs to help us as loyal as we've been. My screen is cracked so I was trying send it to my insurance but I have to sign out of "Find my iPhone".
